Mina Harker’s Journal (Continued)
1 November.—All day we’ve traveled, Van Helsing driving our cart toward the castle. The men chase the box—my heart’s with them. He’s kept me in this holy circle—snow falls thick, wolves howl, but I’m safe here. Last night, he went to the castle alone—came back grim: ‘The three are dust now.’ I didn’t ask more—his eyes said enough.
5 November.—He told me to-day: ‘I entered the chapel—those women, Dracula’s brides, slept in their tombs. Beautiful, deadly—I staked them, one by one. Screams, blood, then peace—they’re free. His power wanes.’ I’m weaker—his pull’s faint, but there. Snow’s deep—we’re near the pass.
6 November.—Twilight—Van Helsing saw dust rise from the castle: ‘They come!’ Then riders—Jonathan, Seward, Arthur, Quincey—galloping hard, Szgany ahead with the cart. A fight erupted—knives flashed, guns barked. I saw Quincey fall, blood soaking snow, but Jonathan leapt onto the cart, slashing—Arthur drove a stake through the box. A howl—Dracula’s face, furious, then crumbling to dust as the sun dipped. The Szgany fled; it’s over.
Dr Seward’s Diary
6 November.—The end came fast—Szgany fought like devils, but we broke through. Quincey took a knife—died saving us. Jonathan cut Dracula’s throat as Arthur staked him—body turned to ash before our eyes. Mina’s free—cross doesn’t burn her now. We’ve won, but at a cost.
Mina Harker’s Journal
6 November.—Quincey’s gone—brave soul. Jonathan held me as Dracula fell—‘It’s done,’ he whispered. Van Helsing blessed us—my curse lifted. We’re battered, but alive. The castle looms silent now—evil’s dead.
